On 12 June 2026, the Department of Foreign Languages at Çankaya University successfully hosted the 7th FLE Joint Conference under the theme “Unity in Diversity.” The conference commenced with the opening remarks of Prof. Dr. Hadi Hakan Maraş, Rector of Çankaya University, who welcomed participants and emphasized the significance of collaboration, innovation, and diversity in higher education and language teaching.

The conference brought together academics, researchers, teacher educators, and ELT professionals from Çankaya University, TOBB University of Economics and Technology, Başkent University, Turkish Aeronautical Association University, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Social Sciences University of Ankara, and Bilkent University, while also welcoming participants from TED University and Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University as guest institutions.

The conference featured a rich academic programme including plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, poster presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities, providing participants with a valuable platform to exchange ideas, present research, and explore innovative approaches to English language teaching and learning.

The event continued with a plenary session by Dr. Deniz Kurtoğlu Eken, titled “Embracing Diversity: Inspirations from Universal Design for Learning (UDL),” followed by the afternoon plenary delivered by Zeynep Ürkün, “The Architecture of Alignment: Fostering Systemic ‘Unity’ Across Diverse Educational Ecosystems.” Both keynote presentations offered inspiring perspectives on inclusive education, educational innovation, and the future of English language teaching.

The 7th FLE Joint Conference once again highlighted the value of inter-university collaboration and reaffirmed the shared commitment of participating institutions to academic excellence, professional development, and innovation in language education. The Department of Foreign Languages extends its sincere appreciation to all keynote speakers, presenters, organizing committee members, sponsors, volunteers, and participants whose contributions made this year’s conference a memorable and inspiring academic event.
